Jaxtr First to Offer India with Local Numbers for International Calls

The world just got a little smaller. Again. Jaxtr members can now get a local India number for their international phone calls. Jaxtr’s technology allows callers to bypass international calling fees and call contacts abroad from their mobile or landline phones. With the local numbers, India jaxtr members can call for as little as 0.43 Indian rupees (43 paisa or 0.01 USD) per minute.

And now, a word from our Chief of Telecommunications Officer, Phillip Mobin:

"Today, thousands of conversations just don’t happen because it’s too expensive and inconvenient to place international calls on the go. By linking their phones to the Web, jaxtr’s Indian members can now make affordable international calls directly from their mobile phones. It’s as simple as calling a friend down the street."

Okay, so what does this mean practically? Let’s say you’re in Hyderabad (maybe you’re not, but just go with this for a second). You want to call a friend in San Francisco. You may have a calling plan that allows you to make international calls, but it’s really expensive. By signing up for jaxtr, you can get a local Hyderabad number to connect you to your San Francisco friend. What starts out as a long distance or international call becomes a local call in the eyes of the phone server and your phone bill.

Now maybe you’re not in Hyderabad, you’re in Mumbai. Odds are that it’s cheaper to call Hyderabad than it is to call San Francisco. Since jaxtr’s local numbers are in Hyderabad, jaxtr may still help save you money by giving you a Hyderabad number to connect you to your friend abroad.

Unlike calling cards that require multiple steps and extra numbers for each call, jaxtr provides you with a single permanent number that you can reuse for that contact. So you can feel free to keep calling your business partner, grandma, or best friend without racking up charges on your bill.

Keep in mind that landline and mobile charges to call the Indian jaxtr number do apply. For more on rates, check out this jaxtr link.

So what do you think? Drop us a comment, and let us know about your experiences.

@time traveler

Three simple steps...

1. After logging in to your jaxtr account, on the home page, enter the international number you want to call and press "Call".

2. Then in the popup that comes up, select the first option (Jaxtr Number) and press OK....and there you go, you will see an Indian phone number.

3.Call this number to get connected to the international number you wanted to call!!! Save this Indian number and use it anytime.

Note: If you dont have a phone attached to your account, you might have to enter your phone number before you proceed to step 2.
